Recently, Kamilla Harris from MarthaK LLC approached our salon. As many of you know, Fox Den Salon is an advocate and supporter of the LGBTQIAA+ community. We provide training and guides for all our staff members on how to utilize inclusive language to provide an excellent friendly experience for all our guests but not all work happens in education and work spaces. There are people who need resources in the world for safety. Text 4HELP (44357) with the word SAFE and your current location for free emergency service.
According to True Colors United, members of the youth LGBTQ community are 120% more likely to experience homelessness. The National Center of Transgender Equality has found that one in five transgender people in the United States have been discriminated against when seeking a home, and more than one in ten have been evicted from their homes because of their gender identity. There is an obvious lack of awareness in regards to the discrimination transgender people face in the U.S.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
It is with great respect and humility that we acknowledge that we gather and create on the traditional land of the Dakota people and the many other tribes that have stewarded it for generations. This beautiful and often complicated city has been the ancestral home to the Dakota people, as well as a home to the Ojibwe (Anishinaabeg), Ho-Chunk, Cheyenne, Oto, Iowa, Sauk and Meskwaki people over generations. The continual strategic disenfranchisement of the colonial settlers on the native peoples of this land have diminished but not deterred the capacity for acknowledgement of the many gifts, strengths, voices, and achievements of the indigenous people that have come before, as well as those that remain in our communities.
